The aim of this international conference is to elicit a wide range of academic ideas and perspectives on the current challenges to peacebuilding efforts and development assisstance. The conference is part of the Peace and Development Studies project, which aims to prepare and implement an entirely new specialization on the Polish educational map dedicated to the popularization of knowledge about conflict resolution, peacebuilding, humanitarian aid and global development. The specialization in Peace and Development Studies, taught in English, will be part of the MA curriculum in International Relations offered at the Tischner European University (Wyższa Szkoła Europejska im. ks. Józefa Tischnera) from October 2009.
The international conference will bring together scholars from variety of disciplines specializing in peace studies and development studies, history, sociology, anthropology, political science, international relations, security studies, etc. Among the conference speakers there will be inter alia:
Christopher Coker (Professor of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science), Jonina Einarsdottir (Professor of Anthropology at the University of Iceland), Andrzej Dylong (Lt. Col. PhD, Chief of CIMIC Branch in Polish Armed Forces Operational Command), Bartosz Hieronim Stanisławski (PhD, Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs, Maxwell School of Syracuse University, USA), Marceli Burdelski (PhD, Uniwersytet Gdański), Yunas Samad (Professor at the University of Bradford).
