EES – Cyclical Seminars

TEU, with the Office of Bogusław Sonik MEP and The Higher School of Business – National Louis University, Nowy Sącz, has been organising European Expert Seminar since October 2005 for students of social sciences, economics, and law not just from TEU, but from all universities in Krakow as well as around Poland. Its aim is to look into the activities of the EU as a whole.

The cyclical seminars were originally titled “When I say ‘Europe’ I think of…”, and were organised into two groups by two lecturers, allowing students to lead discussions on topics about the politics and culture of Europe.

From the 17th March 2006 the European Expert Seminars, under the patronage of the Rector of TEU Jarosław Gowin and Bogusław Sonik MEP, were organised around common European ideas and carried the title of “When I say ‘Europe’ I think of…”. Meetings were held every two weeks in the form of a seminar.

Two 30-people groups under the direction of Dr. Krzysztof Szczerski and Anika Ochotnicka, both political scientists from the Jagiellonian University, took part in the programme. Participants were awarded certificates upon completion of the programme. Seminars were based around texts and books on European ideas by the most important contemporary intellectuals, both from Poland and abroad.
