Peace and Development Studies

The aim of the project Peace and Development Studies is to prepare and implement an entirely new specialization on the Polish educational map dedicated to the popularization of knowledge about conflict resolution, humanitarian aid and global development. The specialization in Peace and Development Studies, taught in English, will be part of the MA curriculum in International Relations offered at the Tischner European University (Wyższa Szkoła Europejska im. ks. Józefa Tischnera).

The project will be implemented by the Tischner European University in cooperation with the internationally known partners: Polish Humanitarian Organisation (PAH), Comparative Research Programme on Poverty – CROP (Norway), International Academy of Philosophy (Lichtenstein) and University of Iceland. The lack of traditions of the discipline in Poland requires wide inter-sector and inter-national consultations and transfer of know-how and best practices from abroad. This should result not only in the development of the well-tailored educational offer, but also in the creation of a specialization meeting the highest educational standards.

The program’s alumni will constitute and important group of employees of the institutions active in the area of peacebuilding, development and humanitarian aid, thus responding to the growing HR needs in the sector.
