The Fourth Power Having Class

The project is co-financed by the European Union within the framework of the European Social Fund - The Human Capital Operational Programme - Overregional  programmes of developing pupils' competences with a special regard to science, biology, information technology, foreign languages and enterprise.

Project duration: 01.09.2008 - 30.09.2011.

"The Fourth Power Having Class. School media concern" project was created for secondary school students who are aware of the modern world and its challenges and want to prepare to efficient functioning in nowadays society. The aim of the project is to provide young people with key competences within information technology, foreign languages and enterprise, as well as to create conditions which will help them to gain interesting professional experience.

Editorial teams are created within the project. Each of them consists of 6 persons which are responsible for creating professional web media concern in Polish and English. The members of each editorial team are: an editor-in-chief, a journalist, a translator, a graphic designer, an IT specialist and a PR specialist. Editorial teams work with a teacher-coach prepared to the role through methodological workshops. The project provides instruments supporting students' and their coaches' work: e-learning courses, workshops, meetings with journalists and handbooks.

The last phase of the project is a competition. Media concerns created by students are precisely assessed by our experts. There are special awards for the best editorial teams.

The project is addressed to pupils and secondary school teachers from three regions: Małopolska, Silesia and Podkarpacie and contains 3 editions.

The project "The Fourth Power Having Class. School media concern" is co-financed by the European Social Fund under the Ministry of National Education.

The leader of the project is Tischner European University (WSE) in Kraków and the partners are University of Information Technology and  Management (WSIiZ) in Rzeszów and the Catholic Youth Education Centre (KANA) in Gliwice.
