International Exchange

The Tischner European University is exchanging students and staff with many universities abroad. The geographical area covered and the  number of our partner institutions is growing every year. Today we collaborate with 34 institutions from 17 countries, including USA.

Since 2004 Tischner European University has been a proud holder of an Erasmus University Charter, entitling it to participation in the EU-founded Erasmus programme, which supports Higher Education Institutions and since 2007 constitutes an element of the Lifelong Learning Program developed on the European level. Every year we successfully apply for Erasmus grants, which give significant administrative and financial support to those students who wish to study for a semester or complete an internship abroad. Every year we also host students from our partner institutions, or individuals coming as "visiting students".

Besides spending one or two semester abroad on Erasmus programme, TEU students have possibility to participate in many short-term programmes, which is a great chance to meet new friends, taste other cultures and take part in serious, multinational debates. International students willing to learn more about Poland and Central Europe in a short period of time, come to TEU for a few weeks to participate in summer schools, or to take part in projects organized by student associations, some co-funded by the EU programme "Youth in Action".

Exchanges, study trips and intensive programs involving local and international students, are complemented by lectures offered by professors from abroad, open meetings with distinguished guests and conferences gathering speakers from all over the world.

Jose Maria Aznar, former Prime Minister of Spain; Rocco Butigilione, Italian Minister of European Politics; Prof. Clyde Wilcox from the Georgetown University (USA); Prof. Anjoo Sharan Upadhyaya from the Banaras Hindu University in India; Gyaliong Tsetrin, former political prisoner from Tibet -  these are just a few of those who have visited us up till now.

VISA AND RESIDENCE FORMALITIES NON-EU AND NON-EFTA CITIZENS

Every foreigner who is not a citizen of a country with which the Republic of Poland has concluded an agreement on the abolition of the visa obligation has to apply for a visa in advance in order to enter the territory of the Republic of Poland.  The authorities competent to issue visas outside the territory of the Republic of Poland are the Polish Consuls. The visa you will apply for as a student-to-be, entitle a foreigner to stay in Poland no longer than 6 months within a period of 12 months.

Countries whose citizens can enter the Republic of Poland and stay within its borders up to 90 days without an obligation to apply for a visa (a stay longer than 90 days requires the legalisation of residence): Andorra,  Argentina, Australia, Bolivia, Brasilia, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong-Kong, Israel, Japan, Macao, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Nicaragua, New Zeeland, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, Salvador, San Marino, Singapore, South Korea, Uruguay, USA, Vatican, Venezuela.

If you are planning to stay more than 6 months (in case of visa holders) or more than 3 months (in case of those who do not have to apply for a visa), instead of prolonging the visa or applying for it, you have to apply for temporary residence permit. The formalities usually take a longer time (approximately 2 months; the exact time depends on the kind and complexity of the documents, and promptness of submitting them), so it is highly advisible to take care of them as soon as you arrive in Poland.

The application has to be submitted 45 days before the visa expres at the very latest. Meeting the deadline will provide (in case of the procedure not being completed) an opportunity of the Foreigner's stay on the territory of the Republic of Poland till the final decission is taken - even after the period of visa's validity (i.e. keeping the described term legalizes the stay on the Polish territory during the whole procedure's period).

The period of 45 days does not refer to persons which stay in the non-visa movement - these Foreigners should submit the application as soon as they cross the border, because in case of the procedure is not completed before the 90-day period (non-visa movement), the applicant has to legalize his or her stay on his or her own (i.e. leave the country or obtain the visa) till the day of receiving the final decision.

Different douments are required in a few issues as far as the formalities in the dealings with full-time and part-time students are concerned.

Visa for non-EU members can be obtained from the nearest Consular Division of the Republic of Poland.
