The new specialization offered at TEU in 2010 creates a unique opportunity to master two out of six official languages of the United Nations: English and Chinese.

Contemporary Sinology provides students with knowledge on all aspects of art, culture, and tradition of one of the world's oldest civilizations. Graduates develop a good command of Chinese language, a skill highly desired in a competitive job market.

 

Graduate profile

The graduate will be aware of:

• the basis of intercultural communication and negotiation skills useful in dealing with Chinese partners
• customs and social norms of a modern Chinese society
• the cultural conditions which apply in doing business in China

 

The graduate should be able:

• to communicate fluently in both written and spoken English
• to communicate in Chinese on an intermediate level certified by the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK)
• pursue projects and tasks connected to China
• develop and maintain business relations with Chinese partners
